Subject:    Revit - MEP Pipe Accessory Symbols

Sent: March 2011

Hi,
MEP standard Butterfly Valve added into a 50mm dia. Pipe line. Embedded Course/Medium ‘symbolic’ symbol at say 1:100 scale measures 3mm at plot time across – too small.
[Bottom symbol in image below].
If clone another Valve with symbol lines (which are in fact Model Lines) scaled up x 2 displays as 6mm in 1:100 Plan view [Top symbol in image below].
Fine. OK.
But the cut in pipe has it’s Course symbolic stick diagram centerline still attached to the real world connector x the Use Annotation scaling default distance.
Do you know any way to widen the ‘gap’ of the stick rep in the cut-in pipe? Cannot find any control for this.

Response:

Hi,
With regard to your request about making the 2D annotation print 2 times larger than normal.
Instead of doubling the symbology size in the family, the way I normally do this is control the Annotation scale in the project.
This way also the line work correct itself so you do not get what is seen below (in your example).
To adjust this 'Project Parameter' in MEP 2010, go to Manage > MEP Settings > Mechanical Settings then adjust the scaling value accordingly:

In my example above, you can see I have changed this value to 6.
Now go back and check out the family in the project and you will see the difference?
Let me know if this works for you?
